New Shark Race-R Optigon

A very exciting delivery arrived today, our shiny new Shark Race-R Optigon helmet for an upcoming feature. The first impressions are good, the helmet feels lightweight but substantial, the 5-star SHARP rating and smooth and seamless operation of the visor and vents highlight the quality of the model.

Sitting near the top of the range, the Shark Race-R is based on the range topping Race-R Pro helmet worn by the likes of Randy de Puniet, but is more focused to road riding and touring. The rear spoiler is removed to improve comfort for a more upright riding position.

Immediately it strikes me as a well thought out helmet, it features a Double D ring strap with a magnetic end to prevent it from flapping in the wind, it also has an elasticated piece of material under the chin, presumably to reduce wind noise/chill.

The Shark Race-R helmet also features 'Sharktooth', an integrated bluetooth system that allows you to wirelessly connect phones, mp3 players, gps and more. The other hot selling point is the easy fit visor, allowing quick removal and fitting for cleaning or swapping between tinted and clear visors.

We love the striking orange, black and white colours of this Shark Race-R Optigon model, but if it's not to your liking then check out the other colour options at shark-helmets.com

Keep checking back for our full road test and review of the Shark Race-R helmet coming soon!
