New Ixon RS short cuff summer gloves

Just as the weather finally started to pick up, there was a knock at the door and the postie handed over an Oxford branded package - our new Ixon RS Print HP summer gloves had arrived! With a promising forecast for the weekend ahead we couldn't wait to get out and give them a try.

Motorcycle News: Ixon launch new RS Print HP short cuff summer gloves
The latest derivative of the RS gloves from Ixon have a short cuff design, not too disimilar to motocross gloves with their velcro tightening strap. The Large size option that we ordered fitted like Brooklyn Decker's bikini in Just go with it (Google it), thanks to the goat leather and stretch textile construction.

After heading out for a quick blast it was instantly clear what a difference the short cuff makes, a cool breeze on your wrists and down the sleeves of a textile jacket feels good in the heat of summer. The leather material is also perforated for extra air circulation.

Motorcycle News: We went for one of the less conventional colour options!
Despite the lightweight summer look and feel to these gloves, they still offer a very sensible level of protection with sliders and reinforced leather on the palm and impact areas of the glove as well as knuckle protection.

The gloves are available in Black, Black/White, Red/White, Jean and Vintage colour schemes and have an RRP of £69.00. For more info check out www.oxprod.com

Guintoli resurges to win 8-lap World SBK Race 2

After being caught out by an unfortunate tyre choice in Race 1, Sylvain Guintoli resurged to win Race 2 for his new Pata Racing Ducati team in an 8-lap race that was cut short due to a heavy downpour bringing out  the red flags.

Motorcycle News: Guintoli takes World Superbike Race 2 win at Silverstone
Ducati-mounted Guintoli and former team mate Jakub Smrz broke away early from the rest of the grid in the wet race conditions, opening up an impressive gap in just a handful of laps. Boosted from his first win in Race 1, Loris Baz chased down the duo on his Kawasaki and soon passed Smrz to take second position on the track.

As the rain continued to poor down, three riders fell on the same part of the track, including front runner Smrz. The chaos on track forced the race to be red flagged and on the count back the podium positions were awarded to Guintoli, Baz and Smrz in that order.

Due to the short nature of the race, all of the top 15 riders were only awarded half points. Find the full race results at www.worldsbk.com

Baz takes first win in dramatic World SBK Race 1

Frenchman Loris Baz secured his first WSBK win today onboard his Kawasaki Racing ZX10R in a dramatic first race at Silverstone, which was interrupted by red flags, crashes and even thunderstorms.

Motorcycle News: Loris Baz takes first World Superbike win at Silverstone
The race was red flagged in the early stages when two separate crashes highlighted the deteriorating conditions. After restarting, the lead for the race was held by a number of challengers including Brits Tom Sykes, Leon Camier and Leon Haslam who all looked on good form.

Eventually though after a race long battle at the front of the pack, which saw veteran rider Max Biaggi exit early after clipping a wet curb, it was Loriz Baz who crossed the line in 1st place, followed closely by Michel Fabrizio in 2nd.

The battle for 3rd came right down to the last corner and Ayrton Badovini just managed to cross the line in front of Jonny Rea, however after pushing hard he clipped the curb after crossing the line and went down, leaving nowhere for Rea to go, who also crashed moments after crossing the line.
