This Alpinestars CR-X Drystar Riding Shoes review examines a microfibre urban shoe with a waterproof membrane and flex grooves in the sole. A full-length TPU inner plate, ankle protection and lace adjustment give it motorcycle-specific equipment within a shoe-style shape.

Walking flex with an internal sole plate
The flex grooves are intended to accommodate walking movement, while a TPU plate runs along the inside of the sole. Those features work together, so try the complete shoe rather than judging stiffness from either one alone. The outsole combines two rubber compounds and an asymmetrical stud layout. Check the tread and gear-lever clearance on your motorcycle as well as the feel during an indoor walk.
Drystar is the specified waterproof membrane inside the microfibre upper. The lace and hook-and-loop closure should hold the heel securely without forcing tension across the instep; secure any loose lace ends before riding. Foam ankle protection, an internal EVA patch and a reinforced gear-change area add structure at contact points. Assess those positions with your foot on the controls. The shorter shape also makes seated trouser overlap important, because a waterproof lining does not seal the opening around your leg.
Protection and construction
The specification lists protection at the ankle and heel. Check that these areas sit correctly when you adopt your riding position.
