Casey Stoner converted his free practice and qualifying results into a race win at the opening round of the MotoGP today. Stoner didn’t have it easy though, with team mate Dani Pedrosa and world champion Jorge Lorenzo both battling for the lead in the early parts of the race.

The first race of the season revealed the Honda’s blinding speed with Stoner and Pedrosa clearing off down the straight. However this didn’t deter current champ Lorenzo form putting a factory Yamaha wedge between Repsol team-mates as he celebrated 2nd place at the end of the race with Pedrosa rounding off the podium in 3rd.
